Raised in rabbit against the VAMP-associated protein B/C (VAPB), this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com detects an endoplasmic-reticulum-anchored factor involved in vesicle trafficking, the unfolded protein response (UPR), and motor neuron disease biology. Missense mutations in VAPB, including the P56S substitution, are causative in familial amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 8 (ALS8), and altered VAPB function has been reported in spinal muscular atrophy, sustaining research interest in reliable antibodies to the endogenous protein.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a buffer combination that maintains protein stability during routine handling. It is validated for Western blot (WB), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF), with reactivity confirmed against human, mouse, and rat samples. The polyclonal format recognises multiple epitopes on VAPB, supporting consistent detection across splice isoforms and post-translational states in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections.

Storage at -20 °C is recommended; the 50% glycerol prevents the solution from freezing solid and tolerates repeated freeze-thaw cycles for ongoing experimental use. Sodium azide acts as a preservative at 0.1%. Researchers studying ER stress, VAMP-associated trafficking, or neurodegeneration-linked protein aggregation use this reagent in cell culture-derived lysates and fixed tissue workflows, where it serves as a primary antibody for downstream chromogenic or fluorescent detection.
