Raised in rabbit against the deubiquitinating enzyme USP7 (also called HAUSP), this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the ~128 kDa nuclear cysteine protease that governs p53 stability and the cellular DNA damage response. USP7 sits at a critical hub in the p53–MDM2 regulatory axis, removing ubiquitin from p53 to prevent its proteasomal degradation, while also acting on substrates including MDM2, HDMX, FOXP3, DNMT1, and UHRF1. The same enzyme is co-opted by herpesviruses: its N-terminal TRAF-like domain binds the Epstein-Barr virus EBNA1 protein, and a separate C-terminal region contacts the herpes simplex virus ICP0 protein, making USP7 a relevant marker in studies of viral latency and lytic reactivation.

The antibody is supplied at 200 µL, unconjugated, so it can be paired with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondaries depending on the detection chemistry chosen. It has been validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples, with the expected band appearing around 128 kDa on SDS-PAGE. Polyclonal preparations allow broad epitope coverage across the full-length USP7 polypeptide and its proteolytic fragments, which is useful when probing cleavage products generated during apoptosis or viral infection. For best results, aliquot on first use and store at -20°C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity across multiple experiments.
