Anti-UROD Antibody

This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets Uroporphyrinogen Decarboxylase (UROD), the fifth enzyme in the heme biosynthetic pathway that catalyzes the decarboxylation of uroporphyrinogen III to coproporphyrinogen III. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated, ready-to-use reagent in a 100 µl vial, the antibody is validated for Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications on human samples.

UROD is a cytosolic enzyme, and inherited deficiency of the protein underlies familial Porphyria Cutanea Tarda as well as the more severe, early-onset hepatoerythropoietic porphyria. The antibody therefore supports work in porphyrin metabolism, hepatic pathophysiology, and heme pathway regulation, including profiling of UROD expression in patient-derived tissue biopsies and cultured cell line models. Storage at -20 °C with single-use aliquots is recommended to preserve immunoreactivity through repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and the product is supplied for research use only.
