Anti-UPK2 Antibody

Raised in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated polyclonal IgG preparation in a 200 µL vial, this reagent targets Uroplakin 2 (UPK2), a single-pass transmembrane protein that contributes to the asymmetric unit membrane of urinary bladder epithelium. It is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous UPK2 in mouse and rat tissue samples.

Uroplakin 2 is one of four uroplakin family members (UPK1A, UPK1B, UPK2, and UPK3) that assemble into 16-nm hexagonal crystalline particles covering the apical surface of terminally differentiated urothelial umbrella cells. Because its expression is tightly linked to urothelial maturation, the antibody supports research into bladder cancer progression, urothelial barrier biology, and epithelial differentiation programs. Reduced uroplakin expression has been documented in high-grade urothelial carcinomas, making these proteins informative markers for studies of tumour dedifferentiation and stratification.

Recommended applications include Western blot analysis on urothelial cell lysates or bladder tissue homogenates from mouse or rat origin. For handling, store refrigerated in the original vial, aliquot before freezing if repeated freeze-thaw cycles are anticipated, and protect from light.
