This rabbit polyclonal antibody targets Uroplakin 2 (UPK2), a transmembrane protein that pairs with UPK1A or UPK1B to form the asymmetric unit membrane plaques characteristic of terminally differentiated urothelial cells. Produced by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated IgG preparation in a 100 µl volume, the reagent is validated for Western blot detection of the mouse and rat target.

UPK2 expression is widely used in studies of bladder epithelial differentiation, urothelial barrier function, and urothelial carcinoma biology. Because the protein is essentially restricted to urothelium in adult tissues, antibodies against it serve as lineage markers when characterizing bladder tumor xenografts, primary urothelial cell cultures, or urothelium-derived organoids. Researchers working on knockout or transgenic mouse models also rely on anti-UPK2 reagents to confirm urothelial differentiation status.

For Western blot, the antibody is supplied as a liquid IgG fraction from rabbit serum, which can be paired with a user-selected secondary antibody and either chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection chemistries on the membrane. Recommended handling includes brief centrifugation of the vial before opening and aliquoting to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles if the reagent will be used over many weeks. The unconjugated format gives laboratories full control over detection labels, antibody ratios, and multiplexing strategies with other unconjugated primaries raised in different host species.
