UMPS (UMP synthase) is the bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the final two steps of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis, converting orotate to orotidine-5'-monophosphate and then to uridine monophosphate. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets UMPS and is validated for western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. The unconjugated reagent is supplied in a 100 µL volume and has been confirmed reactive against human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting cross-species studies of nucleotide metabolism in cell lines, primary cultures, and tissue sections.

For western blot, the reagent detects endogenous UMPS in denatured lysates prepared in standard RIPA buffer; for immunofluorescence, it can be paired with fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies to localize UMPS expression in fixed cells. We recommend aliquoting the antibody upon arrival and storing at -20 °C in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity over time. Investigators studying antifolate drug response, tumor metabolism, or pyrimidine pathway regulation frequently deploy this reagent across in vitro and in vivo model systems.
