Raised in rabbit against the human UMPS enzyme, this unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets uridine monophosphate synthetase, the bifunctional protein that catalyzes the final two steps of de novo pyrimidine biosynthesis (orotate phosphoribosyltransferase and OMP decarboxylase activities). The antibody is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, in a 100 µl vial, and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

Research applications span studies of pyrimidine pathway flux in proliferating cancer cell lines, characterization of deficiency-related orotic aciduria disease models, and investigation of how nucleotide biosynthesis supports tumor metabolism. Researchers applying this reagent typically resolve reduced samples by SDS-PAGE, perform antigen retrieval on fixed tissue sections for IHC, and pair the unconjugated primary with fluorophore-labeled secondary antibodies for IF imaging of subcellular localization.

For handling, aliquot upon first thaw to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store at -20 °C in the glycerol-containing buffer to preserve antibody activity across multiple experiments. The included sodium azide serves as a microbial preservative for short-term bench use.
