UCHL1 (Ubiquitin C-Terminal Hydrolase L1), also referred to as PGP9.5, is a 25 kDa deubiquitinating enzyme that cleaves ubiquitin from protein substrates and regenerates monomeric ubiquitin. It is expressed at particularly high levels in neurons and neuroendocrine cells, accounting for roughly 1–2% of total soluble brain protein, and is widely used as a pan-neuronal marker in neuroscience research. Loss-of-function mutations in UCHL1 have been linked to familial Parkinson's disease, and altered expression is also reported across several solid tumours, extending its research relevance beyond the nervous system.

The Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated, affinity-purified reagent at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. The 100 µl vial format supports multiple experiments across immunoblotting and imaging workflows, with reactivity validated against human, mouse, and rat samples.

Validated applications include Western blot (WB) for detecting the 25 kDa target band, immunohistochemistry (IHC) for tissue localisation in brain and tumour sections, immunocytochemistry (ICC) and immunofluorescence (IF) for cultured cells, and immunoprecipitation (IP) for enrichment of UCHL1 and interacting partners. For storage, keep the vial at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles; the azide-containing buffer is light-sensitive. Short-term handling at 4 °C is acceptable during active use. This reagent is intended for research use only.
