This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets UBA1, the ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1 that initiates the ubiquitin–proteasome cascade by charging ubiquitin in an ATP-dependent manner. The antibody is raised in rabbit and is provided as an unconjugated IgG in a 200 µl vial. It has been validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry applications and shows reactivity with human and mouse samples, supporting studies of ubiquitination, protein turnover, and E1 enzyme biology.

UBA1 sits at the apex of the ubiquitination hierarchy and is a focal point in research into VEXAS syndrome, where somatic mutations disrupt its function, as well as X-linked spinal muscular atrophy. Investigators working on DNA damage response pathways, neurodegeneration, and tumor cell proteostasis also use UBA1 antibodies to track conjugation dynamics and E1 distribution in tissue sections and lysates. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of recognising multiple epitopes on the ~117 kDa target, which is useful when probing processed or post-translationally modified forms of the enzyme.

For handling, aliquot the antibody on receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store the vial at –20 °C. The unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with custom secondary detection reagents for chromogenic IHC and chemiluminescent western blot workflows.
