Raised in rabbit against ubiquitin-activating enzyme E1 (UBA1), this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com targets the E1 enzyme responsible for the ATP-dependent activation of ubiquitin at the apex of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. Supplied as an unconjugated preparation in a 100 µl vial, the antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) and reacts with both human and mouse UBA1.

UBA1 (also known as UBE1) catalyzes the first step of ubiquitination, attaching ubiquitin to substrate proteins and committing them to proteasomal degradation or to ubiquitin-dependent signaling. Because it sits at the head of the conjugation cascade, UBA1 is widely studied as a marker of proteasome flux, in models of protein turnover, and in the context of diseases driven by defective ubiquitination, including VEXAS syndrome, in which somatic UBA1 mutations have been identified.

Working dilutions should be titrated for each assay. For routine use, keep the vial refrigerated and protect from light; for longer-term storage, freeze in aliquots and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity. The unconjugated format lets researchers pair the reagent with HRP, biotin, or fluorescent labels of their own choosing.
