Anti-TTR Antibody

Produced as a Rabbit polyclonal reagent by Antibodies.com, this antibody recognizes transthyretin (TTR), a tetrameric carrier protein that shuttles thyroxine and the retinol-binding protein complex through blood and cerebrospinal fluid. Transthyretin deposits underlie familial amyloid polyneuropathy, amyloid cardiomyopathy, and senile systemic amyloidosis, so trustworthy detection of the protein in tissue and lysate preparations remains a recurring need across neurodegenerative and cardiovascular research programs.

The antibody is delivered as 100 µl of unconjugated immunoglobulin at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. The polyclonal host response gives broad epitope coverage, improving recognition of truncated and misfolded variants that accumulate in amyloid plaques. The reagent has been confirmed to work in Western blot analysis of cell and tissue lysates and in immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections, with reactivity reported against Human, Mouse, and Rat samples.

For daily use, keep the vial refrigerated between sessions; for extended storage, aliquot into smaller working volumes and freeze at -20°C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles that erode binding activity. Affinity purification reduces background in chromogenic IHC and immunoblot detection, supporting clean signal across amyloid deposits, choroid plexus epithelium, and hepatocyte-derived circulating TTR.
