This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against thioredoxin reductase 2 (TRXR2, also known as Txnrd2), a mitochondrial selenocysteine-containing enzyme that uses NADPH to reduce thioredoxin 2 and preserve cellular redox balance. It is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples.

TRXR2 expression is commonly investigated in studies of mitochondrial oxidative stress, cancer cell proliferation, and apoptosis signaling, where altered redox homeostasis supports tumor survival and chemoresistance. Researchers also use TRXR2 detection to examine cardiomyocyte injury, neurodegeneration, and metabolic disorders linked to mitochondrial dysfunction.

For western blot, the antibody recognizes the endogenous protein under reducing conditions; for IHC, it produces specific cytoplasmic and mitochondrial staining in formaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Aliquot upon receipt and store at -20 °C in single-use fractions to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity across long-term studies. The polyclonal format offers broader epitope coverage than monoclonal alternatives, useful when probing full-length TRXR2 or closely related isoforms.
