Anti-Trx Antibody

This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets thioredoxin (Trx), a conserved ~12 kDa redox-active protein that regulates cellular thiol-disulfide balance, scavenges reactive oxygen species, and supports DNA synthesis through reduction of ribonucleotide reductase. The reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated, as a liquid stock at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, in a 100 µl vial.

Validated for Western blot detection of the human, mouse, and rat Trx orthologs, the antibody performs reliably with standard SDS-PAGE lysates and chemiluminescent readouts. Investigators studying oxidative stress signaling, mitochondrial redox homeostasis, inflammatory cascades, and apoptosis pathways use anti-Trx tools to probe the cytosolic Trx1 pool or the mitochondrial Trx2 isoform in cell and tissue extracts.

For handling, short-term storage at 4 °C is appropriate; for longer periods aliquot and freeze at -20 °C, limiting freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity. Sodium azide serves as a microbial preservative in this research use only reagent. The unconjugated format allows flexible downstream labeling, including custom HRP conjugation or fluorescent tagging for multiplex detection across immunoblotting workflows.
