Transgelin (TAGLN), a roughly 22 kDa actin-binding protein also called SM22-alpha, organizes the smooth muscle cytoskeleton and serves as a canonical differentiation marker for vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells. The Antibodies.com Anti-Transgelin polyclonal reagent is supplied as a 100 µg vial of unconjugated rabbit immunoglobulin and supports detection of endogenous human Transgelin in Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.

Raised in rabbit and affinity-purified to recognize multiple epitopes on the TAGLN target, this polyclonal antibody is well suited to studies of vascular smooth muscle biology, myofibroblast phenotype, and tumor stromal remodeling, where Transgelin expression has been investigated as a downregulated signature in carcinomas and as a marker of epithelial-mesenchymal transition. The unconjugated format lets researchers pair it with their preferred HRP, biotin, or fluorophore secondary system for chromogenic DAB staining or fluorescence imaging of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue.

Working concentrations should be titrated against the specific sample type and detection chemistry in use, with vascular smooth muscle serving as a useful positive-control tissue to confirm reactivity against the human target.
