This rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent targets human transferrin, the iron-binding plasma glycoprotein that regulates systemic iron delivery and homeostasis. Raised in rabbit and supplied by Antibodies.com in an unconjugated, lyophilised format at 100 µg per vial, the antibody is validated for Western blot and ELISA workflows, supporting detection of the native ~80 kDa glycoprotein as well as its truncated isoforms.

Researchers studying iron metabolism disorders, anemia models, hepatic protein synthesis, and blood–brain barrier function routinely employ this reagent to probe transferrin expression across cell lysates, serum samples, and tissue homogenates. The polyclonal format yields recognition of multiple epitopes on the transferrin molecule, which can improve tolerance for minor conformational variation between sample types.

Reconstitution in sterile distilled water or appropriate buffer restores the lyophilised pellet to a working stock; aliquoting is recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Short-term handling at refrigerated temperatures is suitable for working dilutions, while long-term stability is maintained by freezing at -20 degrees C in single-use aliquots. The unconjugated preparation offers flexibility for downstream labelling with horseradish peroxidase, fluorophores, or biotin, depending on assay design.
