Raised in rabbit against the human TRAIL cytokine, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml formulation in phosphate buffered saline (approximate pH 7.2) containing 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative. The antibody is presented in a liquid, ready-to-use format that is unconjugated and intended for laboratory research use only.

TRAIL, also designated TNFSF10 and Apo-2L, is a type II transmembrane protein belonging to the tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily. It initiates the extrinsic apoptosis pathway by engaging the death receptors DR4 (TRAIL-R1) and DR5 (TRAIL-R2) on susceptible cells, and it is studied extensively in the context of tumor cell killing, immune surveillance by natural killer cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes, and dysregulated cell death in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

This lot is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human specimens, making it suitable for probing endogenous protein levels in cell lysates and for localizing TRAIL expression in fixed tissue sections. Researchers investigating cancer biology, cytokine signaling, and apoptotic pathways can use the reagent to map ligand distribution, monitor expression changes in response to therapeutic intervention, and complement functional studies of death receptor signaling.
