This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets tryptophan hydroxylase 1 (TPH1), the peripheral isozyme that catalyzes the rate-limiting step in serotonin biosynthesis by converting L-tryptophan to 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan. Raised in rabbit and supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot, it is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and ELISA workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples.

TPH1 is expressed primarily outside the central nervous system, in tissues such as the pineal gland, gut enterochromaffin cells, mast cells, and the vasculature, where peripheral serotonin drives platelet aggregation, vascular tone, and gut motility. Researchers studying mood disorders, carcinoid syndrome, pulmonary arterial hypertension, inflammatory signaling, and gastrointestinal physiology use anti-TPH1 reagents to map peripheral serotonin production and to distinguish the TPH1 pathway from the neuron-specific TPH2 isoform.

The polyclonal format yields recognition of multiple epitopes on TPH1, which is helpful when working with denatured lysates on western blot or fixed sections in immunohistochemistry. Unconjugated presentation allows the end user to couple the primary to their preferred reporter (HRP, biotin, or a fluorophore) and to titrate the working dilution to the sample type. For short-term use, store the antibody refrigerated; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze to limit freeze-thaw damage to the IgG preparation.
