Anti-TOR1A Antibody

Torsin-1A (TOR1A) is an AAA+ ATPase anchored in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen and inner nuclear membrane, where it supports protein folding, vesicle trafficking, and nuclear envelope integrity. This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes TOR1A and is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide as a preservative and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The host species is rabbit and the reagent is unconjugated, allowing use with standard anti-rabbit secondary reagents in standard immunostaining and blotting workflows.

Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat specimens, the antibody is used in neuroscience and movement-disorder research. TOR1A loss-of-function mutations, including the in-frame GAG deletion that removes residue 302/303, cause early-onset generalized DYT1 dystonia, and the reagent is applied to characterize torsin expression in patient-derived fibroblasts, induced neurons, and brain regions such as the cerebellum, substantia nigra, and striatum.

Keep the vial refrigerated and protect from light; aliquot on first use to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Sodium azide in the formulation provides microbial protection but is incompatible with some live-cell and HRP-based workflows and should be removed by buffer exchange when needed.
