Topoisomerase II alpha (Topo IIα) is a 174 kDa nuclear enzyme essential for DNA replication, chromosome condensation, and chromatid segregation during cell division. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com was raised against the human Topo IIα protein and is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum in a single-use vial format.

The reagent detects a band of approximately 170–180 kDa in Western blot lysates from proliferating human, mouse, and rat cells, and produces nuclear staining in formaldehyde-fixed tissue sections compatible with standard immunohistochemistry workflows. Because Topo IIα expression rises sharply in G2/M and is elevated in many rapidly dividing tumor cells, the antibody is commonly used as a proliferation marker in cancer research, alongside studies of drug-resistance mechanisms involving topoisomerase-targeting agents such as etoposide and doxorubicin.

Validated applications include Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. For long-term use, store aliquots frozen at -20°C and minimize freeze-thaw cycles; working dilutions should be prepared fresh on the day of use. For research use only.
