Mitochondrial protein import is the analytical starting point for many cell biology workflows, and TOMM20 (Translocase of Outer Mitochondrial Membrane 20) sits at the entry gate as the presequence receptor on the outer membrane. This rabbit monoclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated stock and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence across human, mouse, and rat samples.

On western blot, the antibody resolves the endogenous ~16 kDa TOMM20 band (the full-length precursor migrates higher in some gel systems), making it a routine mitochondrial loading control when comparing biogenesis, mitophagy flux, or oxidative-stress treatments. In IF and ICC, it produces the characteristic punctate cytoplasmic network that mirrors mitochondrial morphology, the same readout used to score colocalization with LC3 or p62 puncta in mitophagy assays or to visualize fragmentation under CCCP or oligomycin challenge. For IHC on paraffin sections, it stains fixed tissue to map mitochondrial density across regions, which is useful in neurodegeneration models where altered mitochondrial distribution has been documented in Parkinson's-relevant brain tissue. The antibody catalogue A11308 (ABclonal) has appeared in published work, including a 2025 Frontiers in Immunology study on HCMV vaccine-induced CD8 T cell memory, where it served as the IF marker for mitochondrial localization in mouse lymph node sections alongside ATP5H and cytochrome c.

Because the reagent is unconjugated, it pairs with standard anti-rabbit secondary antibodies (HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated) and is compatible with downstream direct labeling. Storage: aliquot on first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles on the monoclonal preparation, then store at -20 °C.
