This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets TOMM20, the ~20 kDa receptor subunit of the translocase of the outer mitochondrial membrane (TOM complex) that serves as the main docking site for cytosolic precursor proteins carrying N-terminal mitochondrial targeting presequences.

Raised in Rabbit and supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) applications across Human, Mouse, and Rat samples. On Western blots of whole-cell or mitochondrial-enriched lysates, the antibody detects the endogenous TOMM20 band migrating near 20 kDa, providing a loading and normalization control for mitochondrial content in studies of bioenergetics, mitophagy, and apoptosis.

For immunofluorescence on fixed cells or tissue cryosections, staining produces a characteristic reticular cytoplasmic pattern that co-localizes with mitochondrial networks, making the reagent useful for visualizing mitochondrial morphology, distribution, and fragmentation events under different metabolic or stress conditions. The polyclonal format increases the likelihood of detecting the native protein across species and helps preserve signal when a single epitope is masked or post-translationally modified.

Researchers working on mitochondrial biogenesis, PINK1/Parkin-dependent mitophagy, cancer metabolism, neurodegeneration, and programmed cell death pathways rely on anti-TOMM20 reagents to confirm mitochondrial localization of candidate proteins and to standardize mitochondrial mass between experimental conditions.
