This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically targets TNFSF13B, also known as BAFF (B-cell activating factor) or BLyS, a type II transmembrane member of the TNF ligand superfamily that is central to B-cell survival, maturation, and class-switch recombination. The reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated polyclonal preparation in a 100 µL vial, ready for direct labeling or pairing with HRP- and biotin-based secondary detection chemistries. The antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows on human samples.

TNFSF13B is secreted chiefly by myeloid cells, dendritic cells, monocytes, and stromal cells, and signals through three receptors — BAFF-R (BR3), TACI, and BCMA — to shape peripheral B-cell homeostasis. Dysregulated BAFF expression contributes to the persistence of autoreactive B-cell clones in systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and Sjögren's syndrome, and overexpression has been reported in several B-cell malignancies. The clinical success of belimumab, an anti-BAFF monoclonal antibody approved for SLE, underscores why robust detection reagents for this cytokine remain important translational tools.

On Western blots, the reagent resolves the full-length ~32 kDa membrane-bound form and the ~17 kDa soluble cleaved fragment produced by furin processing. The unconjugated format is well suited to IHC on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue, giving researchers flexibility over their preferred chromogen and counterstain systems. Standard polyclonal handling applies: aliquot on receipt, avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and store refrigerated for routine use; long-term storage should be frozen.

The antibody supports research programs in autoimmune disease mechanism studies, B-cell biology, lymphoma biomarker discovery, and pharmacodynamic evaluation of BAFF-pathway therapeutics across human tissue and cell lysate samples.
