Raised in rabbit as a polyclonal IgG reagent, this unconjugated antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 50 µl aliquot and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence in human, mouse, and rat samples. The reagent recognizes the cytotoxic granule-associated RNA binding protein TIA1, a 43 kDa factor that shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm and is recruited into cytoplasmic stress granules during oxidative, heat-shock, or viral stress.

TIA1 directs untranslated mRNAs bearing AU-rich elements into stress granules, modulates alternative pre-mRNA splicing of transcripts including Fas and FGFR-2, and contributes to translational silencing during apoptosis. Because TIA1 is concentrated in the cytolytic granules of CD8+ T lymphocytes, NK cells, and granulocytes, the antibody is frequently used to characterize tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in tumor immunology studies and to distinguish large granular lymphocyte leukemia from other T-cell disorders. Researchers also apply it to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia, and related neurodegenerative models in which stress granule dysregulation and TDP-43-positive inclusions accompany neuronal loss.
