Polyclonal antibody raised in rabbit against Thyroid Hormone Receptor α (TRα), a nuclear receptor encoded by the THRA gene that binds triiodothyronine (T3) and regulates transcription of genes controlling metabolism, cardiac rhythm, and neural development. This unconjugated primary reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl and is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

The antibody recognizes TRα in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting cross-species studies in endocrinology and developmental biology. TRα mediates both genomic and non-genomic actions of thyroid hormone, with the TRα1 isoform serving as the principal T3-binding variant expressed in heart, brain, and skeletal muscle.

Polyclonal antibodies recognize multiple epitopes, which can be advantageous for detecting different TRα isoforms or truncated receptor variants. The unconjugated format offers flexibility in choosing secondary reagents for fluorescence, chromogenic, or chemiluminescent detection. Recommended uses include Western blot analysis of TRα protein levels in tissue lysates and IHC localization in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections. Store refrigerated and aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles.
