Anti-TH (phospho S40) Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal IgG from Antibodies.com is a phospho-state-specific reagent raised against tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) and is selective for the enzyme when serine 40 is phosphorylated. It is supplied as 50 µl of unconjugated liquid, giving researchers the flexibility to pair it with a labelled secondary antibody matched to their preferred immunofluorescence (IF) detection channel.

Tyrosine hydroxylase is the initial, rate-limiting enzyme in catecholamine biosynthesis, and phosphorylation at Ser40 is one of the principal regulatory events controlling its activity in catecholaminergic neurons, adrenal chromaffin cells, and other neuroendocrine tissues. Using a pSer40-specific reagent in immunofluorescence makes it possible to distinguish catalytically activated TH from the total TH pool, supporting studies of acute and chronic regulation in dopaminergic and noradrenergic systems.

The antibody is validated for IF on human, mouse, and rat specimens, enabling direct comparison of pSer40-TH distribution across species in brain slices, peripheral sympathetic tissue, and cultured cells. Because the reagent only reports the Ser40-phosphorylated form, total-TH co-staining is recommended when both signals are of interest.
