Tissue Factor (TF), also designated CD142 and F3, is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the essential initiator of the extrinsic coagulation cascade. Upon vascular injury, TF forms a high-affinity complex with Factor VIIa, triggering downstream activation of Factor X and the propagation of thrombin generation. Beyond hemostasis, TF expression on cancer cells and tumor-associated stromal cells is implicated in angiogenesis, metastasis, and inflammatory disease progression.
