Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) is the catalytic protein component of the telomerase holoenzyme, and its reactivation in tumor cells makes it a central marker in cancer biology, senescence, and stem cell research. This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against TERT, validated for western blot, immunofluorescence, and ELISA work on human samples.
Supplied as an unconjugated antiserum in a 100 µl volume, the antibody is intended for research use only and should be stored at -20 °C, ideally aliquoted to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Investigators use this reagent to compare TERT expression between normal and malignant tissue, to characterize telomerase-positive cancer cell lines, and to probe regulatory mechanisms such as Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) pathway activity. Because TERT levels are typically very low in adult somatic cells, the antibody is particularly useful in studies where sensitive detection of telomerase reactivation is the experimental endpoint.
