This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets human Transcobalamin II (TCN2), the plasma glycoprotein that binds dietary vitamin B12 (cobalamin) and delivers it to peripheral cells through receptor-mediated endocytosis. Raised in rabbit and supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human-derived samples.

TCN2 is synthesized chiefly by hepatocytes and secreted into the bloodstream, where it carries the small fraction of circulating cobalamin destined for cellular uptake; loss-of-function variants in the TCN2 gene cause the autosomal recessive disorder transcobalamin II deficiency, which presents with megaloblastic anemia, neutropenia, and pancytopenia in infancy. Investigators studying B12 transport, inherited cobalamin malabsorption, or hepatocyte protein secretion use this reagent to probe TCN2 expression in cell lysates by immunoblotting and to localize the protein in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections by IHC.

Host species is rabbit, clonality is polyclonal, conjugate is unconjugated, and the indicated species reactivity is human. The antibody is shipped in a single-use vial as a liquid formulation; store refrigerated and protect from light, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve reagent activity across experiments. Intended for research use only and not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
