The TATA-binding protein (TBP) is a general transcription factor required for transcription initiation by all three eukaryotic RNA polymerases. It anchors the preinitiation complex at the TATA box element found upstream of many gene promoters and exists as a ~38 kDa polypeptide recruited into the TFIID complex alongside TBP-associated factors. This unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and validated for detection of endogenous TBP in human, mouse, and rat samples by western blot and immunohistochemistry. Supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate-buffered saline (pH ~7.2) with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative, the 100 µl vial provides ample material for routine immunoblotting and chromogenic or fluorescence tissue staining. Because TBP expression is widely used as a nuclear loading reference across cell and tissue lysates, this antibody supports both transcriptional mechanism studies and standardized normalization controls alongside histones and RNA polymerase subunits.
