TATA-box binding protein (TBP) is a general transcription factor that directs accurate transcription initiation by all three eukaryotic RNA polymerases. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the A184 epitope region of human TBP and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline with 15 mM sodium azide, at approximately pH 7.2, in a 50 µl volume.

The unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows and shows reactivity with Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting comparative studies of transcriptional regulation across these species. TBP forms the DNA-binding core of the TFIID complex and anchors assembly of the pre-initiation complex at gene promoters, so this antibody is used to investigate promoter architecture, basal transcription machinery, gene expression control, and related pathways in cell and tissue samples.

For routine handling, store refrigerated at 4 °C; for longer term storage, aliquot the antibody and freeze, and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity.
