TBP (TATA-box binding protein) is a general transcription factor required for transcription initiation by RNA polymerase II and a core component of the TFIID complex that recognizes the TATA box in promoter regions. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit against a region surrounding the A184 residue of the human TBP sequence. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of a 1 mg/ml solution in a vial, formulated in phosphate buffered saline at approximately pH 7.2 with 15 mM sodium azide as preservative. It is unconjugated, giving users freedom to choose secondary labels for their preferred detection chemistry.

Validated applications include Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), with demonstrated reactivity against Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, making it a useful reagent for cross-species studies of basal transcription machinery. Investigators apply it to assess transcription factor expression in cell lysates and tissue sections, to monitor TFIID-associated assembly events, and to probe gene expression regulation in cancer, differentiation, and stress-response models. The polyclonal format offers multi-epitope recognition, which can be helpful when a single monoclonal may fail to detect the target under denaturing or fixed conditions, and the rabbit host supports a broad range of commercially available secondary reagents for chromogenic, fluorescent, and chemiluminescent readout.
