Clone 9G4 from Antibodies.com is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that selectively recognises the microtubule-associated protein Tau when it carries a phosphate group on threonine 181. Phosphorylation at this residue is one of the earliest biochemical changes reported in Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies, and the antibody is commonly deployed in western blot studies of post-mortem brain tissue, induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons, and transgenic mouse models of neurodegeneration. The unconjugated reagent is presented as a 500 µg lyophilised pellet, validated for detection of phosphorylated Tau from both human and mouse samples, which allows cross-species comparison on the same blot. The pellet is reconstituted in sterile distilled water or assay buffer before use, and reconstituted aliquots are stored at -20 °C to maintain binding activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, with working dilutions kept refrigerated during the experiment. Because the host species is mouse, detection on western blot relies on a labelled anti-mouse IgG secondary reagent. The clone is provided for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic work.
