Engineered to detect Tau protein only when phosphorylated at threonine 181, this mouse monoclonal IgG2a primary antibody from Antibodies.com (clone 7G9) supports Western Blot studies of Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies. Supplied as 100 µg of lyophilised material, the unconjugated reagent reacts with both human and mouse Tau, enabling cross-species comparisons in neuronal lysates, brain tissue homogenates, and cell culture models of neurodegeneration.

The 7G9 clone was raised against the phospho-Thr181 epitope, one of the earliest post-translational modifications observed on Tau in Alzheimer's pathology, allowing researchers to resolve phosphorylated Tau species from total Tau pools on immunoblots. Lyophilised for shelf stability, the antibody should be stored at -20 °C in the dried state; after reconstitution, keep refrigerated and protect from repeated freeze-thaw cycles to maintain binding activity.

Monoclonal IgG2a production in mouse ensures lot-to-lot consistency that polyclonal anti-phospho-Tau reagents rarely match, and reactivity with both human and mouse samples makes this reagent valuable for translational work comparing human post-mortem brain tissue with mouse models of tauopathy, including frontotemporal dementia and chronic traumatic encephalopathy research.
