Phospho-specific research antibody raised in rabbit against microtubule-associated protein Tau (MAPT), directed at the threonine 231 (T231) phosphorylation epitope. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, presented as a 100 µl volume.

The antibody is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous Tau in lysates from human, mouse, and rat tissues, enabling cross-species investigation of tauopathy models, Alzheimer's disease research, and studies of neurofibrillary tangle pathology. Phosphorylation at T231 is recognised as an early marker of aberrant Tau processing and is widely examined in work on proline-directed kinase signalling, including contributions from GSK-3β and CDK5, as well as the balance between kinases and phosphatases that regulate Tau post-translational modifications.

As an unconjugated primary antibody, the reagent integrates into downstream detection workflows with secondary antibodies of the researcher's choice, including HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit IgG. The liquid formulation eliminates any need for reconstitution prior to use. For long-term stability, aliquot and store frozen at -20°C; the included sodium azide preservative also supports short-term handling at room temperature during active experiments, and the buffer composition (PBS, pH ~7.2) is compatible with standard immunoblotting protocols, including SDS-PAGE separation followed by nitrocellulose or PVDF membrane transfer.
