This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com selectively recognizes Synaptotagmin-2 (SYT2) phosphorylated at threonine 202. SYT2 is a calcium-sensing synaptic vesicle membrane glycoprotein that couples depolarization-triggered calcium influx to fast neurotransmitter release, where it acts as the dominant kinetic calcium sensor at inhibitory synapses. Detecting the phospho-T202 form enables investigation of activity-dependent regulation of the synaptic vesicle release machinery in neurons.

The reagent was raised in rabbit, affinity purified as IgG, and supplied at 200 µl per vial in unconjugated format. It has been validated for immunofluorescence on samples from human, mouse, and rat, supporting comparative studies of synaptic signaling across species. Because the antibody is unconjugated and of IgG isotype, it pairs readily with standard anti-rabbit secondary antibody panels, including fluorophore-labeled secondaries used in confocal and widefield microscopy on fixed cells or frozen tissue sections.

SYT2 expression is largely confined to the central and peripheral nervous system, with prominent abundance in brain regions enriched for fast-spiking interneurons. Phosphorylation at T202 has been associated with modulation of vesicle recycling dynamics, and a polyclonal reagent raised against this phospho-epitope offers recognition of multiple determinants around the modified residue for cleaner detection than a narrowly focused monoclonal would provide. Researchers working on synaptic transmission, calcium-triggered exocytosis, and phospho-regulation of neurotransmitter release pathways can apply this antibody in immunofluorescence workflows to localize the modified protein at subcellular resolution.
