Synaptotagmin 1 (SYT1) is the principal calcium sensor that triggers synchronous neurotransmitter release from presynaptic terminals. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody from Antibodies.com selectively recognizes SYT1 only when phosphorylated at serine 309, a site regulated by casein kinase 2 and CaMKII in vivo. Phosphorylation at S309 has been linked to modulation of synaptic vesicle recycling and short-term plasticity, making the reagent useful for neuroscience research into presynaptic function, neurotransmission, and studies of synaptic transmission in relevant disease models.

The antibody is validated for immunofluorescence on tissue sections and cultured cells from human, mouse, and rat. It is supplied as 50 µl of liquid in a vial, unconjugated to allow flexible pairing with fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies of the researcher's choice, and matches the polyclonal reagent offered by Abcam for the same phospho-epitope. Storage at -20 °C in small aliquots is recommended to preserve phospho-specific activity across multiple freeze-thaw cycles.
