This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the Syndecan-4 (SDC4) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated rabbit antiserum validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence across human, mouse, and rat samples.

Syndecan-4 is a single-pass transmembrane proteoglycan bearing heparan sulfate chains on its extracellular domain and a short cytoplasmic tail ending in a conserved EFYA motif that docks directly with PDZ domains such as syntenin and CASK. It functions as a signaling co-receptor at focal adhesions, where oligomerization of the cytoplasmic variable region activates PKCα and couples integrins to RhoA-driven cytoskeletal remodeling, making the protein a frequent target in studies of cell adhesion, migration, wound healing, and fibrotic signaling.

The Ab-179 designation corresponds to an immunizing peptide positioned within this regulatory cytoplasmic region. Because the reagent is unconjugated, laboratories can pair it with HRP, biotin, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies matched to their assay. The 100 µl volume supports multiple western blot membranes or several dozen IHC slides, and aliquoting on first use helps preserve activity through repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Store refrigerated and protect from light until first aliquoting. For research use only.
