Synaptophysin is a ~38 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein localized to presynaptic vesicle membranes, where it contributes to synaptic vesicle exocytosis and neurotransmitter release. The Antibodies.com rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against this target and recognizes an epitope conserved across human, mouse, and rat samples, validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows.

For immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed tissue sections, the antibody marks presynaptic nerve terminals and neuroendocrine cell populations, and is frequently applied to the histopathological characterization of neuroendocrine tumors. In Western blot, it produces a characteristic band at approximately 38 kDa in lysates of brain, pancreas, and adrenal medulla, supporting comparative studies between rodent disease models and human clinical specimens.

Each vial contains 100 µL of unconjugated polyclonal rabbit antiserum. Store refrigerated for short-term use; for longer-term storage, freeze at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles of the antibody. Working dilutions should be titrated empirically for each sample preparation and detection system.
