SUMO4 (Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier 4) is a ubiquitin-like modifier that regulates protein stability, subcellular localization, and stress signaling through covalent attachment to substrate proteins. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and detects SUMO4 in samples derived from human, mouse, and rat tissues.

Supplied as a 100 µl aliquot at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the unconjugated antibody is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. The 50% glycerol formulation acts as a cryoprotectant, allowing storage at -20 °C and protecting activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles so the same vial can support multiple blotting or staining experiments.

SUMO4 has attracted interest in immunology and cell biology because the M55V coding variant has been associated with type 1 diabetes susceptibility in genetic studies, and the modifier has been reported to influence NF-κB pathway activity and the cellular response to heat shock and oxidative stress. The reagent enables detection of both free SUMO4 and SUMO4-conjugated species in cell lysates and fixed tissue sections, supporting work on sumoylation dynamics in inflammation, metabolic disease models, and stress signaling pathways.
