This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes SUMO3, a ~12 kDa member of the Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier family that is covalently conjugated to substrate lysine residues as part of the post-translational sumoylation pathway. The reagent is supplied at 200 µl as an unconjugated IgG preparation and is validated for Western Blot (WB) and Immunofluorescence (IF) applications on human and mouse samples. SUMO3 is cleaved from a longer precursor and assembles into poly-SUMO chains that participate in DNA damage signaling, chromatin remodeling, and the cellular stress response, distinguishing it biochemically from related paralogs such as SUMO1 and SUMO2/4. Investigators use this antibody to detect endogenous SUMO3-conjugate ladders, identify free SUMO3 in cell lysates, and map subcellular distribution in fixed cells. The polyclonal host response increases the likelihood of binding multiple epitopes on both unconjugated and lysine-conjugated forms of the protein, including high-molecular-weight modified species that appear as broad smears above the 12 kDa band in Western Blot. Aliquot before freezing to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity. For research use only.
