Raised in rabbit against Syntaxin-16 (STX16), this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets a Qa-family SNARE protein that localizes to the trans-Golgi network and endosomal compartments and mediates membrane fusion events underlying vesicular trafficking in eukaryotic cells. The reagent is supplied as an unconjugated antiserum in a 100 µl volume and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human samples, supporting studies of endosomal sorting, Golgi-to-endosome transport, and SNARE complex assembly.

STX16 has gained attention in disease research because deletions and imprinting defects at the STX16 locus on chromosome 20 have been linked to autosomal dominant pseudohypoparathyroidism type Ib, a disorder of parathyroid hormone resistance driven by altered GNAS imprinting. Investigators working on membrane trafficking, Golgi organization, and epigenetic regulation at the GNAS locus use this reagent to probe endogenous STX16 expression in tissue sections and cell lysates.

Because the antibody is unconjugated, it can be paired with a broad selection of secondary reporters — HRP, alkaline phosphatase, or fluorophore conjugates — depending on whether the workflow calls for chemiluminescent western blot, chromogenic IHC, or immunofluorescence. For handling, refrigerate the vial upon arrival, aliquot to working volumes to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light if a fluorophore-labelled secondary will be used downstream. This is a research use only reagent and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
