Raised in rabbit against the STUB1 (also called CHIP) E3 ubiquitin ligase, this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in a PBS buffer containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant. The 100 µl volume is aliquoted to support repeated experimental runs without freeze-thaw damage to the active immunoglobulin fraction.

STUB1/STIP1 homology and U-box containing protein 1 acts as a co-chaperone and ubiquitin ligase that links molecular chaperones such as Hsp70 and Hsp90 to the proteasomal degradation of misfolded client proteins, so antibodies raised against it are useful in studies of protein quality control, cellular stress responses, and chaperone biology. The reagent has been validated for western blot detection of the endogenous human, mouse, and rat protein, and for immunohistochemistry on tissue sections where the subcellular localization of the ligase relative to inclusion bodies or aggregates is of interest.

For working dilutions, researchers typically apply the antibody at 1–5 µg/ml for western blotting and adjust concentrations as needed for IHC; the 50% glycerol formulation allows the vial to be stored at –20 °C without freezing solid, and small aliquots can be kept at 4 °C for short-term use while protecting the solution from light between sessions.
