Stomatin (STOM) is an integral membrane protein belonging to the band 7 protein family, participating in lipid raft organization and regulating mechanosensitive ion channels in eukaryotic cells. The polyclonal rabbit reagent from Antibodies.com targets STOM in its unconjugated form, supplied as a 100 µL vial ready for incorporation into standard immunodetection workflows.

This Primary Antibody supports two laboratory applications: Western blot analysis of lysates prepared from human, mouse, and rat samples, and immunofluorescence (IF) staining of fixed cells or tissue sections to visualize the subcellular distribution of stomatin. Because the host species is rabbit and the reagent is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with a broad selection of secondary antibodies and choose detection chemistries such as HRP, fluorophore conjugates, or biotin-streptavidin systems appropriate to the experimental design.

The reagent is validated for reactivity against three species — human, mouse, and rat — making it practical for comparative studies across rodent models and human cell lines. Common research contexts include investigating erythrocyte membrane biology, where stomatin was originally characterized in red blood cell lipid rafts, exploring its mechanosensor role in kidney podocytes and other polarized epithelia, and probing altered expression in cancer cell lines in which STOM abundance has been reported to shift.
