Anti-STAT3 (Ab-705) Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against a peptide epitope located around residue 705 of Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3 (STAT3), a latent cytoplasmic transcription factor that becomes transcriptionally active following phosphorylation at this tyrosine residue. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antibody and has been validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

Tyrosine 705 is the principal activating phosphorylation site on STAT3. Phosphorylation by JAK family kinases or SRC family kinases triggers reciprocal SH2 domain binding between two STAT3 monomers, nuclear translocation of the resulting dimer, and engagement of target gene promoters that control proliferation, cell survival, and inflammatory responses. As a polyclonal reagent, this antibody binds multiple epitopes on STAT3, which can improve detection in formalin-fixed tissue sections where individual epitopes may be masked by crosslinking.
