Raised in rabbit against a peptide epitope centered on residue 690 of human STAT2, this polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically detects Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 2, a critical mediator of type I interferon signaling. Phosphorylation of STAT2 at Tyr690 triggers heterodimerization with STAT1 and recruitment of IRF9 to assemble the ISGF3 transcription factor complex, which translocates to the nucleus and activates interferon-stimulated response element (ISRE)-driven gene expression.

Validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, the unconjugated reagent is supplied at 100 µl and exhibits reactivity against human STAT2. In Western blot, it supports detection of phosphorylated STAT2 in cell lysates following IFN-α or IFN-β stimulation, making it useful for studies of viral infection models, tumor microenvironment signaling, and primary immunodeficiencies caused by STAT2 mutations. In immunohistochemistry, the antibody enables localization of STAT2 activation patterns in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, particularly in settings where type I IFN responses are implicated, including antiviral immunity, autoimmune pathology, and interferon-responsive tumor types.

The polyclonal format offers epitope diversity for robust recognition of the STAT2 target region, while the unconjugated presentation gives researchers flexibility to pair it with their preferred secondary antibody and detection system. Researchers investigating innate immune signaling, host-pathogen interactions, and interferon pathway dysregulation rely on this reagent to dissect STAT2-dependent transcriptional programs.
