Raised in rabbit against a peptide epitope centered on Leu177 within the N-terminal coiled-coil domain of human STAT1, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com provides a research-grade tool for studying canonical interferon signaling. Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 1 is a ~91 kDa latent cytoplasmic transcription factor activated through Janus kinase-mediated phosphorylation at Tyr701; once phosphorylated, it dimerizes, translocates to the nucleus, and drives expression of interferon-stimulated genes central to antiviral defense, growth arrest, and apoptosis.

The antibody is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.2, containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative, and is packaged as a 50 µl vial. It has been validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications on human, mouse, and rat samples. Because the immunogen lies upstream of the DNA-binding domain, the reagent recognizes both the full-length STAT1α (91 kDa) and the shorter STAT1β (84 kDa) splice isoform.

Recommended working ranges, based on published use, are approximately 1:500 to 1:2000 for Western blotting and 1:50 to 1:200 for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections following antigen retrieval. For handling, keep the vial refrigerated and protected from light, aliquot to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and transfer to -20°C for long-term storage.
