This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets ST3GAL4, a Golgi-resident type II transmembrane sialyltransferase that transfers sialic acid from CMP-Neu5Ac onto terminal galactose residues of glycoproteins and glycolipids. Provided as an unconjugated primary antibody at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, the 100 µl vial is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human and rat samples, and is intended for research use only.

ST3GAL4 contributes to the biosynthesis of sialyl Lewis a and sialyl Lewis x epitopes, which serve as selectin ligands during leukocyte rolling and extravasation. Altered ST3GAL4 expression has been reported in colorectal, pancreatic, and breast carcinoma tissue, making the enzyme a focus of studies on tumor glycan remodeling and E-selectin or P-selectin ligand assembly. Investigators use this antibody to probe endogenous protein levels in cell lysates and to map staining patterns in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections.
