Targeting the Golgi-resident type II transmembrane sialyltransferase ST3GAL3, this polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is intended for researchers investigating protein glycosylation, neuronal development, and sialic acid biosynthesis. ST3GAL3 catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-Neu5Ac onto terminal galactose residues of glycoproteins and glycolipids, and loss-of-function variants in the encoding gene have been associated with early infantile epileptic encephalopathy (West syndrome), placing this enzyme at the intersection of neuroglycobiology and epilepsy genetics.

Raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, the antibody is validated for Western blot detection of endogenous ST3GAL3 in human, mouse, and rat samples, including cell lysates and tissue homogenates. The polyclonal format allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target, which can strengthen immunoblot signal and help tolerate minor denaturation.

Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, enough for several blotting experiments. For best results, store refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use, or aliquot and freeze at -20°C for longer storage, protecting from light and minimizing repeated freeze-thaw cycles. This reagent is intended for research use only.
