This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets ST3GAL2, a Golgi-resident type II transmembrane sialyltransferase that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid from CMP-sialic acid onto terminal galactose residues of glycoproteins and glycolipids. The enzyme contributes to the biosynthesis of ganglio-series gangliosides such as GM1b and GD1a and has been studied in the context of neuronal glycosylation, synaptic function, and altered expression patterns reported in several solid tumor types.

Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated polyclonal preparation, the antibody is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples. Researchers apply it to examine ST3GAL2 protein levels in tissues such as brain and pancreatic islets, as well as in tumor-derived cell lines where changes in cell-surface sialylation have been associated with proliferation and adhesion phenotypes.

Provided as a 100 µL liquid aliquot, the reagent can be incubated directly on nitrocellulose or PVDF membranes for Western blot, or on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections for IHC, with downstream detection through standard HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary antibodies.
