The somatostatin receptor 5 (SSTR5) is a G protein-coupled receptor that mediates the inhibitory actions of somatostatin on hormone secretion, gastrointestinal motility, and cell proliferation. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised in rabbit and is supplied as 200 µl of unconjugated IgG in a single-use vial, intended for Western blot (WB) detection of the human receptor.

SSTR5 is expressed in neuroendocrine tissue, pancreatic islets, the anterior pituitary, and a range of tumors, where it has been investigated as a marker and candidate therapeutic target in somatotroph adenomas, insulinomas, gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms, and certain breast carcinomas. Research applications include profiling SSTR5 isoform expression in tumor biopsies, validating CRISPR or siRNA knockdown in cell culture models, and mapping receptor distribution across matched normal and diseased human tissue panels.

Recommended handling: store refrigerated at 4 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect the IgG fraction, and avoid prolonged light exposure. For Western blot, 20–40 µg of total protein from human cell lysate or tissue homogenate is typically sufficient to detect endogenous SSTR5, with reported band sizes near 50–60 kDa depending on glycosylation state. The antibody reacts with human SSTR5 and is intended for research use only; it has not been validated for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
